present and have made great strides in returning these idle
properties to productive use. This award is presented to a local
government or private sector company or consortium, which has
demonstrated outstanding leadership in transforming a brownfield

site remediation, the use of recycled materials, the
energy-efficiency features, and the building's green roof all
contribute to the health of the environment by reducing waste,
energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. The result is a building
that embraces the harsh reality of war, yet offers hope that, like
the regenerating landscape, Canadians will choose a future that
heals rather than destroys.
